Buenos Aires Introduces Tax Debt Repayment Plan

The Government of the City of Buenos Aires has presented a bill aimed at helping taxpayers settle their tax debts in a more accessible manner. The Government Agency for Public Income (AGIP) will carry out a payment plan that will allow debtors to pay overdue taxes, such as ABL, Gross Income, Vehicle Tax, Property Tax, Stamps, Advertising, and other taxes in up to 48 installments.

According to the debt regularization plan, tax commitments until December 31, 2024, may be included, which can be paid in a maximum of 48 installments. The total or partial forgiveness of interests and penalties will depend on the deadlines chosen at the time of joining the plan. Taxpayers with debts in fiscal enforcement proceedings may also join the plan, which will suspend the deadlines of ongoing judicial processes.

In the event of settling the total debt, either immediately or through a payment plan, the criminal action will cease. Collection agents will have the option to cancel regularized debts resulting from withholdings or collections not reported until December 31, 2024, in a maximum of six installments.

Gross Income in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires is a provincial tax that affects most economic activities. The rate that must be paid varies depending on the province in which the activity is carried out. In the City of Buenos Aires, there is a simplified regime similar to the monotributo, which, through a bimonthly installment, facilitates the administrative burden of gross income tax returns.
